The Truth about Jesus christ

The Truth about Jesus christ

The Qur'an, the last of the divine books revealed by the creator to the last messenger is a source of knowledge  about Jesus which is not generally known to most Christians. The Qur'an do not only lead to better understanding of who Jesus really was but makes Muslims have more respect and regard for him.

The Islamic view of Jesus Christ lies between two extremes. The Jews who rejected Jesus as prophet of God and called him an imposter and the Christians who consider him to be the son of God or God Himself and worship him as such. Islam considers Jesus as one of the great prophets of God and respect him much as Abraham, Moses and Muhammad(peace be on them all). This is in conformity with the Islamic view of oneness of God, the oneness of divine guidance and the complimentary role of subsequent messages of God's messengers. The essence of Islam which “is the submission to the will of God” was revealed to Adam who passed it on to his children. All the following revelations to Noah, Abraham, Moses, Jesus and the final messenger Muhammad(peace be on them all) were in conformity with that message in addition to some elaborations to define the relation between man and God, man and man, man and his environment and to live according to God's instructions thus any contradictions among revealed religions is viewed by Islam as man made element introduced into these religions.

                                    Glad tidings and Jesus birth:

The holy spirit( the Archangel Gabriel) appeared to Mary bringing her the news of a son, when the angels said:

              “Behold the angel said:

O Mary, God giveth thee glad tidings of a word from Him, his name
will be the Christ Jesus, the son of Mary, honored in this world and
in the hereafter and are of those who are granted nearness to God
He shall speak to the people in childhood and in maturity, and
he shall be of the righteous. She said, O my Lord how shall I have a
son when no man hath touched me? He said even so, God
createth what he willeth. When he had decreed a plan, He but saith it
“Be and it is”. And God will teach Him the book and wisdom,
                the law and the gospel(Qur'an3:45-48).

Mary conceived the child miraculously and retired to a distant place where she awaited delivery, after delivery she returned home. Then she brought him to her people, they said:

“ O sister of Aaron! Thy father was not a man of evil nor thy mother
a woman unchaste. But she pointed to the babe, they said: how can
we talk to one who is a child in the cradle? He said:“ I am indeed a
servant of God, he hath given me a revelation and made me a prophet.
And he hath made me blessed wheresoever I be and hath enjoined on
me prayer and charity as long as I live.
He hath made me kind to my mother and not overbearing or miserable
so peace be upon me the day I was born, the day that I die and the day
that I shall be raised up to life(again).(Qur'an19:28-33).
Jesus (Not the son of God):

In the same chapter following the above quotation, God assures Muhammad(S.A.W) and the whole world that what was mentioned above is the truth about Jesus, although the Christians might not believe it, Jesus is not the son of God but the son of Mary, the verses continue:

“ Such(was) Jesus the son of Mary, (it is) a statement of truth about
which they(vainly)dispute. It is not befitting to(the majesty of)God
that he should beget a son. Glory be to Him! When he determines
a matter He only says to it “Be” and it is. (Qur'an19:34-35).

In the same surah, the idea of God having a son was rejected in stronger word:

“ They say(God)most gracious has begotten a son!
Indeed you have put forth a thing most monstrous.
At it the skies are ready to burst, the earth to split
asunder and the mountains to fall down to utter ruin.
That they should invoke a son for (God) most gracious.
For it is not consonant with the majesty of(God) most gracious
that he should begot a son. Not one of the beings in the
heavens and the earth but must come to God most gracious
          as a servant(Qur'an19:88-93).

Even some verses in the bible show that Jesus is not the son of God, the Christians argue that Jesus was the son of God because he was called the as son of God in the bible but the truth is that Jesus being called the son of God cannot be a real claim that he is true son of God, even the same bible called Adam son of God in (luke3:38).
Maybe the bible refers to Jesus as the son of God because his life came from God without human.
In Genesis2:7: “and God proceeded to form the man(Adam) out of dust from the ground and to blow into his nostrils the breath of life and the man came to be a living soul”.
In the verse above it shows that Adam was called the son of God because his life came from God without any human parents.
Some Christians might still want to argue that Jesus is the son of God because he had only a mother but no father, if that is the case, then it means Adam is more fit to be the son of God because he didn't have a mother.

The Qur'an recognizes the fact that Jesus had no human father but this does not make him son of God, by this criterion Adam would have been more entitled to be the son of God because he neither had a father nor mother because Allah says in the Qur'an:

“ The similitude of Jesus before God is as that of Adam
He created him from dust and said to him be and he was.
The truth comes from God alone, so be not of those who
                doubt (Qur'an3:59-60).

The Qur'an rejects the concept of trinity as strongly as it rejects the sonship of Jesus. This is because God is one, three by common reasoning and by simple arithmetic can never be one. The Qur'an addresses the Christians in the following verse entitled al-nisa(the women):

“ O people of the book! Commit no excesses in your religion:nor say
of God aught but the truth. Christ Jesus the son of Mary was(no more
than) an apostle of God, And his word which he bestowed on Mary,
And a spirit preceding from Him, so believe in God and His apostles.
Say not “Trinity”: desist, it will be better for you, for God is one God.
(Glory be to Him)(far exalted is He)above having a son. To Him belong
all things in heaven and on earth. And enough God as a disposer of affairs.
Christ disdaineth not to serve and worship God, nor did the angels, those
nearest(to God). Those who disdain His worship  and are arrogant,
He will gather them all together unto Himself  to(answer).
But those who believe And do deeds of righteousness, He will give
their(due) Rewards, and more out of His bounty, but those who are
disdainful and arrogant, He will punish with grievous penalty, nor
will they find besides God any to protect or help them.
O mankind! Verily there hath come to you a convincing proof from
your Lord, for We have sent unto you A light(that is)manifest.
Then those who believe in God and hold fast to Him, soon will He
admit them to mercy and grace from Himself and guide them to
           Himself by straight way. (Qur'an4:171-175).

Jesus was a link in a long chain of prophets and  messengers sent by God to various societies and nations whenever they needed guidance or deviated from the teachings of God. Jesus was specially sent to Jews because they were deviating from the right teachings of Moses, even Jesus said in the bible that he was only sent to the Jews.

                                                 Jesus mission

The Qur'an tells us about the mission of Jesus in the following verses quoted earlier in which glad tidings was brought to Mary:

“ And God will teach him the Book and wisdom, the law and the Gospel.
and(appoint him) an apostle to the children of Israel, (with this message)
“ I have come to you with a sign from your Lord, in that I make for you
out of clay, as it were, the figure of a bird and breathe into it and it
becomes a bird by God's leave and I heal those born blind and the lepers,
And I declare to you what ye eat and what ye store in your houses.
Surely therein is a sign for you if ye did believe.
(I have come to you) to attest the law which was before me. And to make
lawful to you part of what was(Before) forbidden to you, I have come to
you with a sign from your Lord, so fear God and obey me.
It is God who is my Lord and your Lord. Then worship Him. This is a way
            that is straight (Qur'an3:48-51).

Finally the Christians might not believe this version of the truth about Jesus but this is the truth from God as contained from the Qur'an.
Allah is several places in the Qur'an challenge mankind to find fault in the Qur'an because if the Qur'an is not the word of God they will find several contradictions, so many religious books have been contradicted and the Qur'an after more than fourteen hundred years ago still remain pure, even so many non Muslim agree to the fact.

After all written, I will like to end this write-ups with some verse from the Qur'an:

“ Do they not consider the Qur'an (with care)? Had it been from
other than God, they would surely have found therein much discrepancy.
When there comes to them some matter touching(public) safety or fear
they divulge it. If they had referred it to the apostle, or to those charged
with authority among them, the proper investigators would have tested
it from them(direct). Were it not for the grace and mercy of God unto you
All but few of you would have fallen into the clutches of Satan.
                                                                                                (Qur'an4:82-83).

“ We gave Moses the book and followed him up with a succession of
apostles, we gave Jesus the son of Mary clear signs and strengthened
him with the holy spirit. Is it that whenever there comes to you an
apostle with what ye yourselves desire not, ye are puffed up with pride?
Some ye called imposters and others ye slay!
They say “our hearts are the wrappings” (which preserve God's word
we need no more). Nay, God's curse is on them for their blasphemy.
            Little is it they believe.
And when there comes to them a Book from God, confirming what
is with them, although from of old they prayed for victory against those
without faith, when there comes to them that which they(should) have
recognized, they refuse to believe in it but the curse of God is on
          those without faith(Qur'an2:87-89).

“ who doth greater wrong than one who invents falsehood against God
Even as he is being invited to Islam? And God guides not those who
          do wrong.
Their intention is to extinguish God's light(by blowing)with their mouths
But God will complete(the revelation of)His light, even though the unbelievers
          may detest. (Qur'an61:7-8).
